Another part of my research was a ride along with a local Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement field officer. He had a 17’boat with a 150hp Mercury outboard powering it. The main problems with the Mako was it wasn’t fast enough to catch a jet ski and it has a rolling problem in open water.

The DNR boat. Blue lights located on the roof and rear pillar of the boat. Siren mounted in the center.
Control console layout of the Mako. Electrical control switch panel located under the steering wheel. Waterproof field box used to store and protect paperwork.
DNR ticket book about 12” long Hand-held radio and compass. Radio has been clipped to the windshield.
